Merry Christmas to All!

So I thought it was about time to make an appearance after a two month hiatus. The last two months have been a whirlwind to say the least. Between preparing for Christmas and taking care of all of life's hiccups, time slipped by rather quickly.

December has been jammed packed with a plethora of exciting things. Elyse has made her musical debut at Riverstone Elementary by performing her rendition of Jingle Bells. In the picture below, Elyse is being held by her teacher and she is wearing a cream shirt. (if that even helps)

Elyse 's thoughtful look.

Elyse passed out at daycare. Elyse is a champ at sleeping (except at night), in fact she was able to sleep through a fire drill at school.

Earlier this month, Grandma Kramer and I went to Shauna and Tim's to make Christmas cookies. Elyse was such a good little helper.

With Aunt Natalie at the Parade of Lights. Despite teething we had a great time.

I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and may you have a joyful 2011!

Double, double toil and trouble

.....fire burn and cauldron bubble.

Muah, muah, muah. (That was suppose to be my evil laugh, in case you were wondering). Fall has finally made its way to Colorado and today is little lady bugs first Halloween. It has been an exciting last couple of days. On Friday, Grandma Kramer and myself went to Elyse's daycare for her parade. We had to laugh because the kids are so young that most had no idea what in the world was going on. But on the upside, they looked pretty dang cute all dressed up. Yesterday we headed back to daycare for their carnival. It gave grandma Oliver the chance to Elyse's digs and meet her teachers. Last night after a beer, I thought it would be a wonderful idea to commemorate the holiday by watching a scary movie. Genius idea coming from the gal that slept with her sister for a month after watching the Blare Witch Project. I guess I will never learn. We are looking forward to kicking off our newest family tradition of dinner and trick or treating at Shauna and Tim's.
Happy Halloween all you Ghouls and Gals!

Nelson Family Getaway

Last weekend we took are very first road trip to beautiful Telluride, or lovingly know as "To Hell You Ride" by early miners. The trip itself was stunning as always but this time we found ourself gazing upon the bums of woolly sheep. On our way over McClure pass a rancher was moving his 3,000 sheep from winter to summer pastures.

The flood or woolly bums

The Nelson Family - have I told you that next June we expecting one more?? No we aren't having another baby, my Padre is getting hitched! Michelle is going to be my partner in crime at the ranch.

This had potential to be a really cute picture.

8 Weeks and it keeps on getting better

What a great week this has been! Well let's clarify...weekend that is. We kicked it off by meeting up with friends for a stroll around Wash Park. You would not believe all the mom's pushing their kiddos in BOBs...BOBs have got to be the Bentley of strollers.
Punkerdoodles first trip to Wash Park

Elyse and new friend Ali

As if our weekend couldn't get any better, Elyse and I retreated to the mountains. At 8 weeks old I decided to introduce Elyse to my love of the great outdoors. We took our first hike with my greatest friends. It was an extremely sunny day in Frisco and so I decided to bring the shade with us and carried an obnoxiously large umbrella. The greatest lesson learned on this trip was to always, always pack a change of clothes for babies...need I say more??

6 Weeks Playing Mom

It has been a wonderful 6 weeks transitioning into the roll of motherhood. It amazes me how busy you can be during the day, yet still feel like nothing has been accomplished at all. It is hard to get a lot done when your day is filled with feedings and diaper changing. But I wouldn't trade it in for the world! I love my new family!

Finally An Update

Now that I have kept everyone in suspense, I should probably fill you in as to what is going on. After a trying couple of weeks of heeding the advice of everyone I know...eating spicy food, jumping down stairs (Auntie M), consuming my weight in biscuits and gravy (delicious but doesn’t work)…we are still babyless. After much discussion Corey and I have decided to start the induction tonight at 8:00. Things have started but my body needs a little extra help. We are excited to welcome our girl into the world sometime tomorrow. You better be crossing your fingers for sooner than later!

As promised but much delayed here are some pictures of Shauna and Tim’s Wedding.

Are We There Yet - Seriously?

The Buddah belly in full glory
For Good Luck Rub My Belly....no seriously, you can if you want to.

I don't know how woman do it...if the lack of bladder control doesn't drive you to insanity then pure anticipation will. We are three weeks away and my body has finally betrayed me. Here is view from where I stand...and no those aren't overstuffed sausage links, those my friends are my toes.

Let the Festivities Begin

Mom celebrating her 50-Something Birthday over a big hunk of chocolate cake.

This weekend has been packed full of all kinds of celebrations. For those that may not know, my big sissy (sister) is getting married at the end of the month, May 29th to be exact. In pregnancy terms, I will be at week 37. To celebrate my mom, Kristyn, and Shauna went gambling at the Ameristar Casino...unfortunately no one came home a millionaire like I was banking on. So for now I have to keep on working.

Other noteworthy news…Corey and Padre took a trip to go and visit Heather and baby Landon. Both mom and baby are adjusting well and making strides in the right direction. I can't wait to go and visit! This place looks beautiful.

Ode to Pregnancy and Sister In-laws

I stumbled across this picture and it made me chuckle a little bit. Heather was eight months prego in this picture which means I was about three months along. Little did I know that my belly would quadruple in size in the few months come. These days I wonder to myself whether my belly button will magically suck back in after birth and I am excited for the day when I don't mind bending over to pick up things that I dropped. I can't tell you the respect that I have for my amazing husband that will wake up with me in the middle of the night to listen to me complain about the painful hip-pointers, acid indigestion, the heat, the cold, or the fact that I just can't sleep. It takes a very patient person to live with a pregnant woman....especially a pregnant woman with a cold.

Her Nest

Circe - the fat (soon to be hairless) cat

I am still trying to figure out what to put in the frames. Ideas???

So these days the door to the nursery remains closed. The cats have explored the room and believe that it is their new digs! Our fat cat, Circe, has made the changing table her new favorite napping place. I wouldn't have a problem with it if the animals weren't all shedding! I am seriously contemplating shaving them all. It wouldn't be inhumane if I knitted them sweaters to keep warm...right guys???

More Reasons to Celebrate

Corey and I feel so blessed that in six weeks we get to welcome home our little Miss Nelson but recently we found out that we have more reasons to celebrate. My great friend Kim is getting married! We couldn't be more thrilled for Kim and Jeff...these two deserve all the happiness in the world. To celebrate the new engagement we headed to La Sandia for dinner with friends.
